Stopping Smoking

Set yourself free from the burden of smoking! Set yourself free from the adverse affect on your health, your wealth and your time! Not to mention the forward-planning involved in ensuring that day or night, you always have your drug of choice in a packet nearby! 

Drug of choice!!!? Yes, nicotine was your drug of choice; your delivery method was a piece of paper shaped into a tube, produced especially for you (by those caring people at the tobacco companies) using a process involving many other poisons.  

You’ll notice I said ‘was’.. ..because if you are reading this with the intention of calling me; then all of the above will become a thing of the past!

Many people continue smoking even though they know of the dangers because they are afraid to stop.  What do they fear..?

  1. •That they’ll fail

  2. •That they will put on weight

  3. •That they won’t be able to handle stress

  4. •That they will crave nicotine forever

  5. •That they will suffer terrible withdrawal symptoms

  6. •That they won’t enjoy life without smoking

In the grip of fear, people forget that there is evidence all around them that the rest of us enjoy our lives without the thought of a cigarette. Even those of us who used to smoke!

With regard to stopping smoking, this is my belief; that FEAR is simply -

False Evidence Appearing Real

  1. •Nicotine addiction causes stress.

  2. •Nicotine withdrawal symptoms are not the same as those for strong narcotics, and last only until the nicotine is out of your system - a few days. 

  3. •Once the nicotine is out of your system – the craving no longer exists.

  4. •With hypnosis, you won’t need to use food as a substitute for cigarettes, as you won’t feel that you have lost anything; instead you will have gained many benefits.

  5. •Hypnosis is the most effective way of stopping the smoking habit.

The Session

At the session I will give you information about how hypnosis works, and explain how you are in complete control. Forget the television hypnosis shows where people do silly things; that’s because they want to do those things; it is entertainment. No-one can make you do anything you don’t want to do. That is very important for you to understand.


  1.     DON’T COME FOR HYPNOTHERAPY UNTIL YOU WANT TO STOP SMOKING.

  2.     Don’t come because your partner/parents/children/friends want you to stop.

  3.     Don’t come because you think you ought to stop.

  4.     Come to see me when you are ready, when YOU WANT to stop smoking.

  5.     No-one (not even me!) can make you do something you don’t want to do.

So now you have decided you are ready to STOP.  

The STOP-SMOKING session is different from other sessions. Prior to the session I will ask you to complete a questionnaire and return it to me. This will give me information about your smoking history.

You will be with me for around two-hours. I will have already read your completed questionnaire and will talk it through with you. 

I will give you some information about the effects of smoking, and some statistics about the effects of stopping smoking. I will explain what hypnosis is, and how it works, and answer any questions you have about it.

You will leave this session as a non-smoker. As a non-smoker you will have no need for cigarettes. If you have carried this need around for many years, to suddenly have no requirement for it might feel pleasantly strange. A burden will have lifted. You will have learned strategies for dealing with all this new energy you have at your disposal. 

Oh, I haven’t mentioned the energy have I? Well, you’ll hear about that and other benefits when you get here!

Finally, for the still anxious amongst you!  One session, you may be thinking – how can it work in only one session? This method, that I and others with the same training use, is a one-session method. It works. I have a long list of clients with whom it has worked. ‘40-a-day for 40 years’ people included.

Because you are human you might find that claim above a little hard to believe. As a therapist I have concern for the well-being of my clients, and I realised when first dealing with smokers that some would worry; “What if I do need to go back?”, “Will I feel stupid asking?” “Will it cost me more money?” I decided to eliminate those doubts because I didn’t want anxious clients. 

You will not NEED to come back. However, during the six weeks after your session, you can come back to see me, free of charge. You can come because you enjoyed the relaxation of hypnosis and want to experience it again; you can come because you believe that a ‘booster’ will help you keep going; you can come for any reason at all. And you can come at any time when I can fit you in; you don’t have to wait a certain length of time. And as I will already have your history, that session is likely to take an hour or less. 

As a therapist who adheres to a Code of Practice, it would be unethical of me to make ‘special offers’ to you. This offer is given freely by me, exclusively in the case of stopping-smoking clients, simply because it eliminates worry at a time when I want you to have as little to worry about as possible.
