Barbara Cook

“Barbara helped me deal with a long standing phobia of birds, showing great understanding and care in her approach. She was particularly good in challenging my unrealistic personal goals about my fear. My phobia has gone and I stay calm now when birds are around. I wish I'd known about hypnotherapy 30 years ago!”                             ‘L’

Training

Trained at the London College of Clinical Hypnosis (LCCH), I qualified in 2002 as a Clinical Hypnotherapist (Dip.C.Hyp.MBSCH) gaining Full Membership of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis.

Background

My background in Human Resources, followed by work in Management Development was a natural precursor to working with people on a one-to-one basis. I spent many hours of my business life coaching, facilitating, encouraging and motivating people, using similar skills to those required of an effective therapist.

After 14 years specialising in coaching, leadership training and teambuilding, in a wide range of business environments, I became self-employed in January 1994 and continue this work with many different clients in the corporate world and social businesses.

Hypnotherapy

As a therapist I use a wide range of techniques, working on a broad spectrum of issues and health problems; using my skills in Hypnotherapy, NLP, CBT, EMDR and EFT; my purpose is to help my clients resolve problems, offering encouraging support whilst they achieve their goals. My approach is relaxed and reassuring, providing a safe, comfortable environment where clients feel at ease. My overall aim is to help YOU to do without my services in the future.

I enjoy seeing people discover their own power, whether through managing a phobia, overcoming insecurity, or achieving modest or challenging goals. My hypnotherapy clients have ranged from a 12-year-old girl; a published author; a world champion sportsman; business executives; teachers, nurses, singers, and people from all walks of life.

Personal details

For those of you who like a few personal details, I am a Mancunian, living in London for long enough to have lost my Manchester accent! I have two sons, six grandchildren and a dog, all of whom I love, however the human family tends to think the dog has the edge in my affections – an accusation I vehemently deny!

Through continued professional development, I have discovered a special interest in Hypnosis in Fertility, becoming a registered practitioner of the Fertile Body Method. I am also an Associate Member of the Medical School Hypnosis Association (MSHA).
